Hawaii may legalise online casino gambling
US Casino News - Hawaii may become the first of many US states with legal online casino gambling as prominent legislators in Hawaii push for legalised gambling.
Hawaii has always been one of those tourist destinations that have been against gambling of any kind, but due to the financial crisis and a decline in tourism they are looking for new ways to boost tax revenue. With a billion dollar budget gap, Hawaiians are realising that gambling could help with their growing budget woes.
Legislators are pushing for legalised slots on some of the native Hawaiian Islands with the primary focus being on the island of Waikiki. The opposition however is worried that Hawaii, known as a family friendly destination, could hurt its image with tourists.
There have also been discussions regarding online gambling within the state of Hawaii. The legislation to legalise casino gambling within the state of Hawaii is thought to be the first step, in a plan to eventually legalise online gambling and issue licenses for online casinos once the federal government passes legislation that will allow the individual states to license casinos.
