According to this article on the BBC news site, three sisters Linda Kenny, 53, Doreen Thomas, 57 and Edna Sexton, 59 are set to meet in court over an argument about a £50,000 bingo jackpot payout. Apparently Mrs Kenny and Mrs Thomas are suing Mrs Sexton for £16,666, plus interest, because they claim their sister reneged on an oral agreement they reached in 2005.
A £50,000 bingo bonus is a lot of money, but is it worth this? I have a brother who is an absolute killer at Blackjack, he loves to play in both online and offline casinos, and has won (and sometimes lost) a fortune. I’ve never expected to reap the benefit, even when I’ve been their when he won. If he ever did offer me money and later was not able to fulfil that promise I would never dream about taking him to court and in the same way he would not expect me to cover some of his costs if he lost…
Now, as I’ve mentioned in my last post, gambling (be it casino, bingo or betting on a sport) is primarily for entertainment and the winnings, although wonderful, are an added bonus. Family is more important and I for one hope these sisters work it all out amicably. Life is too short people! Enjoy your winnings yes, but enjoy your family more.
